Requirements

  • Completion of a Dental Hygiene Diploma from a recognized accredited educational institute
  • Registered in good standing with the College of Dental Hygienists of Ontario (general or specialty certification) and authorized for self-initiation
  • Minimum of 3 years full-time clinical dental hygiene experience
  • Current Basic Life Support (HCP) and First Aid Certification
  • Valid Ontario Driver’s License and access to reliable transportation
  • Proficient in taking digital radiographs
  • Current knowledge, experience and skills necessary to provide comprehensive dental hygiene services to children, seniors and vulnerable population groups
  • Demonstrated understanding and ability to apply principles of health promotion, disease/injury prevention and determinants of health
  • Knowledge with Ministry government assisted programs (e.g., HSO, Ontario Works, Ontario Disability Support Program, etc.)
  • Experience with dental software programs (e.g., ABELDent)
  • Strong knowledge and adherence to IPAC/PIDAC measures (Public Health Ontario Instrument Reprocessing Certificate is an asset)
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs
  • Excellent clinical and problem-solving skills
  • Self-motivated and adaptable to changing program needs
  • Excellent communication and time management skills
  • Proficiency utilizing Microsoft Office (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Teams)
  • Proven ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team setting
  • Strong interpersonal and organizational skills and the ability to prioritize tasks to perform independently and effectively
  • Satisfactory Police Vulnerable Sector Check at time of hire
