This position allows the opportunity to float between some of our locations within Ottawa.

Duties:

Identifying gaps in clinical schedule and making recommendations to the Regional Manager overseeing the practice’s performance;
Detects disease by completing oral cancer screening; feeling and visually examining gums, using probes to locate periodontal disease and to assess levels of recession and exposing and developing radiographic studies;
Completes dental prophylaxis by cleaning deposits and stains from teeth and from beneath gum margins;
Educates patients by giving oral hygiene, plaque control instructions and postoperative instructions as required;
Establishes strong patient relationships while maintaining ethical professional behavior;
Deliver optimal levels of continuity between patient and service provider;
Demonstrate active listening and empathy to patients using effective communication skills;
Sterilizing and disinfecting instruments in accordance with ministry of health and practice protocols;
Cleaning and preparing treatment rooms in accordance with ministry of health and practice protocols;
Assisting dentist(s) in managing medical and dental emergencies when necessary;
Assist in updating and maintaining client dental records;
Ensure all denial of treatment consent forms have been completed and gathered;
Schedule patient next appointments;
Understanding and adhering to Radiographic Quality Assurance Controls, Infection Control, WHMIS and all other applicable laws and regulations to provide a safe environment for patients and staff;
Ensuring all clinical and storage areas are clean and organized;
Caring for dental equipment;
Other duties as assigned.

Job Type: Casual

Pay: Up to $46.00 per hour

Expected hours: No more than 40 per week
